Obituary of Janis Ellen

Janis Ellen Cox was born May 19,1939 in Bend, OR.  Janis passed away peacefully at her home on July 31, 2022 in Oak Harbor, WA.  She was a member of Job’s Daughters and graduated from Eagle Rock High School in Los Angeles, CA in 1957.  During High School she worked as a waitress at her family’s restaurant “Ted’s Broiler” in Eagle Rock.  Janis lived most of her adult life in Ontario, CA and studied Business and Accounting at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.    During her career, Janis worked for Anderson’s Realty in Ontario, CA as an administrative assistant.  Later she worked at several hospitals in the Business Office, including Queen of the Valley Medical Center in West Covina, Doctor’s Hospital of Montclair, and Chino Community Hospital.  When Janis retired, she moved to Corvallis, OR and eventually to Oak Harbor, WA to be closer to family. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Manual and Florence Cox of Ontario, CA.  She is survived by her two daughters, Carole (John) Baldwin of San Diego, CA, Sandra (Johnny) McLaughlin of Coupeville, WA.  Two brothers Neil (Linda) Cox and Ted (Veronica) Cox both of Corvallis OR.  Three grandchildren Darius (Rachael) Cross of Colorado Springs, CO, Nico Cross of Long Beach, CA, and Jared Rutherford of Monterey, CA.  And Three great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Emberly, and Scarlett Cross of Colorado Springs, CO. Janis was known for her kindness, intelligence, beauty, and her sense of humor. Janis had the most beautiful hands and was approached in her younger years to do hand modeling.  The most important priority in her life was spending time with family.  Janis enjoyed traveling, cooking, camping, knitting, bingo, card games, combing the beach for rocks and shells, animals, ice cream and making people laugh.  One of her favorite sayings was “May people are play people”.
