Obituary of Richard Heay

Richard Allan Heay (age 83) entered into rest on February 20, 2022, in Bellingham, WA surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13, 1938, in Bellingham to Richard Henry and Margaret (Spady) Heay. Dick attended and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1956 and entered the Navy following his graduation. He served his country during the Vietnam War from 1958 until his discharge in 1970 achieving the rank of BT-2. After his military career, Dick worked for Mobile Refinery for over 20 years and eventually retired. During his life, Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing. The water was his happy place. He will be remembered most for his hard work ethic and enjoyment of life itself. He was very social and loved to help people. Dick could make anyone laugh at the drop of a hat. Dick is survived by his wife, Sandy Heay of Bellingham; daughters, Nicole Heay, Holly Moore, and Heather Xzender all of Bellingham; sister, Barb Goodmanson of New Richmond, WI; nephews, Alan, Rick, Duane, Scott, and Cody Goodmanson; four grandchildren, Jace wood, Destiny Wood, Mariah Ramirez, and Aleeya Ramirez. As per Dick’s wishes, there will be no services held and his cremains will be scattered in Bellingham Bay and Deception Pass.
