Obituary of Camille C Palmerino

Camille C. Palmerino passed away peacefully on Thursday February 17, 2022 at The Willows in Bellingham, Washington. A kindhearted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, she leaves a lasting legacy in those who knew her. She is survived by her six children Barbara, Lynne (husband Bill), Thomas, Patrice (husband Kevin), Michael (wife Terri), Camille (husband Tom), her grandchildren David, Michael, Billy, Elliot, Lewis, Antonia, Mark, and seven sweet great grandchildren, a dear brother-in-law Ron, her loving nephew and niece Michael and Elizabeth, and many relatives both near and far. She is preceded in death by her husband Anthony (Tony) Palmerino, vibrant sister Jo Ann, her aunt and dear friend Catherine, her spirited granddaughter dearest Jenine and her son-in-law Walter. Camille was born in Orange, New Jersey to Jerome and Grace D’Urso. As a child she loved tap dancing and performed on stage with her best friend. She experienced many train adventures around America with her parents as a young girl. In 1946 she married Tony who she had corresponded with daily during the years he served in the Navy. He was asked once what drew him to Camille. His reply was, “Have you ever read one of her letters?” Camille was a loyal wife, patient and generous mother and an attentive friend to many people throughout her life. Camille loved to travel and spent several years living in Belgium with Tony. While there she was delighted to have the opportunity to visit many European places, especially Sicily. When they returned from Europe, they settled in the San Francisco Bay Area where she was employed as an executive secretary. After retiring, she and Tony moved to Washington State in 1988 where she eventually cared for him during his long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She later did volunteer work at Peace Health St. Joseph Medical Center. A wonderful chapter opened up in Camille’s life when she moved into The Willows where she was enriched with 25 years of friendship, support and diverse activities. Her beautiful singing voice was a joy to hear and her love of music was inherited by her family. Gatherings were filled with the sound of music. As an avid reader she kept a running list of books she had read. During the past several years, she was lovingly cared for by her precious caregivers Shelley, Hellie, Beth and Linda Diane. Her family is deeply grateful to them. As a devoted Catholic, her faith helped her through several hardships. Camille led a life of service to others and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian burial at Church of the Assumption in Bellingham, WA to celebrate Camille’s life will be held on May 5, 2022 at 10:30 A.M.
