Obituary of Elizabeth Kley

Elizabeth (Betty) Kley went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2008 in Blaine, WA. She was born to Claude and Josephine Montgomery on September 15, 1915 in Chicago, IL. On September 1, 1948 in Bellingham, WA she married Karl Kley. They made their home on a farm in Birch Bay, where they raised their family. Upon Karl's retirement, they moved to Sequim, WA. Upon Karl's death, Betty returned to Lynden, WA, where she lived until moving to Stafholt Good Samaritan Center in 2006. Betty attended Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing and Hygiene where she received her nursing degree and served tea to Henry Ford. She worked for over 50 years in the nursing profession in hospitals, supervising student nurses, as a private duty nurse, as a school nurse, in public heath nursing, as a visiting nurse, and in nursing homes. Betty's hobbies included reading, stamp collecting, choral singing, photography, puzzles, cats, cross stitch, crocheting, sewing, garage sales, and bird watching. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Dan) DeMent; son, Robert (Gina) Kley; grandchildren, Gail DeMent, Cory (Regan) DeMent, Nathaniel Miller, Jeremiah Miller and Dino Macioci, and Erin (Drew) McFerren; great grandchildren, Brendan Ortman and Bailey McFerren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Karl Kley and son William Kley. A graveside service will be held on January 19, 2008 at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at Faith Reformed Church in Lynden.
