Makyla Carpenter

Obituary of Makyla Mae Carpenter

The beautiful life of Makyla Mae Carpenter of Ferndale, WA born 07/16/1999 age 18 was taken from us on 06/30/2018. She was the daughter of Julianna Kindlund-Carpenter & Kip Carpenter also of Ferndale. Makyla attended Horizon Middle School, Ferndale HS, Windward HS and BTC. Makyla worked at Starbucks on Bakerview a job she loved and was great at. Her goal was to attend college through Starbucks to get her business degree and work for Starbucks Corporate. Makyla has always helped others and it has always been her wish to donate her organs, we are so blessed that this was able to happen- She would be overjoyed to know that her heart is now saving a 5 yr old child!

Makyla loved being outdoors hiking, swimming being with friends especially near the water. Makyla's smile lit up a room- She glowed from the inside out. She raised the spirit of everyone around her. She had a great laugh and an inner light that emanated from her. Makyla instinctively knew if someone needed help or just a hug she spent her short life helping others in more ways than even we knew were possible- She helped at Blue Skies for Children, Ferndale Holiday Giving Store & Liv Life (which is where she learned about organ donation and knew it was something she wanted to do) as well as many more. She loved and was loved by so very many, most of all she truly loved children & all animals especially her dog Nanners!

Makyla is Survived by her Parents Julianna Kindlund-Carpenter & Kip Carpenter of Ferndale, Grandmothers Alpha Mae Kindlund of Bellingham, & Shirley Wood of Seattle, Siblings, Nieces & Nephews Rory, Rheagan, Carlee & Chloe Gambini of Custer, Jeremiah, Chelsey, Alicia, Nevaeh, Nilay & Airabella Crediford of Birch Bay, Matt Can of Yangon Myanmar, Amanda Hull of Virginia, Maria Polanco of Mt Vernon, Brianna Lindsey of Bellingham, Kristiana Carpenter of Ferndale, Miles Carpenter of Ferndale, Mike Carpenter of Ferndale, Cassie Carpenter of Ferndale. As well as many foster siblings, aunts, uncles & cousins & so very many friends that loved her.

In honor of Makyla, The Makyla's Pledge Foundation was created to help prevent others from losing their loved ones too- The Makyla's Pledge Foundation will be going to middle & high schools as well as colleges putting on presentations about the effects of driving drunk or impaired or getting in the car with someone who is. We will have pledges for them to fill out with red ribbons to tie on their steering wheels to remember to buckle up as well as not to drink and drive. We are starting in Whatcom County and plan to branch out as far as possible to save as many lives as we can, it's what Makyla would definitely want

Makyla's CELEBRATION OF LIFE is Saturday, July 7th at 4 pm at Boulevard Park in Bellingham. Parking will be in Fairhaven at the large lot across from the Village Green, look for red & white balloons- You can walk the trail to the park or we will have a shuttle too, look for the vehicle with balloons.  At the park, look for the large tents.

This will be a Joyous occasion to celebrate the smiling beautiful life of Makyla and all the joy and happiness she brought to everyone. Please try not to wear black, her favorite color is red, she also liked coral, pink, yellow & olive green. If you want to bring something bring a food that you and see loved to eat together, but it is not necessary to bring anything. We would however love and truly appreciate it if you could write down your favorite stories of Makyla to put in her book as well as a picture of you with her with your name(s) on the back or you can send pictures and stories to her mom Julianna via her Facebook or on Makyla's Facebook, or email to her mom at juliannakc@yahoo_com. We would also love to have anyone who would like to share to come up individually or in groups and tell us happy stories & your favorite memories about our special girl.

Makyla would want you to know how much she loves you all and that you made her life so very happy. She would want you to live like her, loving & helping others and with a smile on your face! She would also want you to always remember to be safe and never drive impaired or get in the car with someone who is.
