David James Clayton Sr. passed away in Lynden Wa. on April 8, 2021. David was born on April 21,1947 in Ada Minnesota to Lavern and Elaine Clayton. David joined The United States Marine Corps in 1966 Proudly served for 4 years. David received two Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and was honorably discharged. David lived in Williams California where he owned his own lawn maintenance service and Clayton's Saw and Mower Shop. David served as Assistant Fire Chief for Williams Fire Department. David and ex-spouse Mary Ann, together raised two sons and a daughter. David enjoyed watching his beloved WNBA Seattle Storm, women "wrastling", Roller Betties, Minnesota Vikings, spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren's school activities and was looking forward to attending a Seattle Kraken Hockey games with his son David. David was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed building and selling his birdhouses. You can catch a glimpse of his birdhouses all over Whatcom County. He was a loving, caring and giving man who will be missed by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents Lavern and Elaine. Survivors include; Sister, Brenda Foss; Daughter, Tracy; Sons, James and David Jr; Daughters-In-Law, Maryann S.and Ernestina C; Grandchildren; Michael, Marianne, Gilbert, Luis, Nichole, Misty, Casey, Tosha, Maria and Trey (David lll); Great Grandchildren, Angelina, Lucciana, Addyson, Angel, Hannah, Jaxon, Jarred, Ellie, Lucas and Micah.
