Richard Gusky, of Blaine, WA. Age 72. Born May 11, 1947, Died May 21, 2019. Richard was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Ruth and Paul Gusky (both deceased) and was the eldest of four children, brother James Gusky (wife Emily) , and sisters Carol Weiss (husband Marc) and Nancy Kilgore(husband Greg).
He was a beloved brother, uncle and great uncle who loved the sea and to sail. Richard achieved several milestones during his lifetime. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years eventually obtaining the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Kent State University earning several degrees including dual Masters Degrees, one in Archeology and one in Anthropology. He had personally witnessed the Kent State Tragedy which had a profound effect on his life. He continued on to become a college instructor at Cleveland State University for a period of time before moving to Florida.
Richard loved to sail on his beloved sailboat. Traveling for weeks in the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean, sometimes, with his late father Paul as his shipmate. Later in life Richard moved from Florida to Washington and took up residence on his boat to continue his lifetime hobby of sailing until his recent death.
A private memorial service will be held.
